HIGH VOLTAGE BREAKDOWN STUDY.

Abstract

The pilot experiment has been initiated and to date twelve treatments have been completed. Of these, six involved full system bakeout. Electrode gaps ranging from 0.5 to 3.0 cm were examined and a procedure developed for obtaining the significant breakdown parameters for both unconditioned and conditioned electrodes. A preliminary analysis of the results has been carried out, some trends observed and tentative conclusions drawn. Finally the 300 kv system has been maintained in a fully operational state. (Author)
