PROVISIONING: THE PROBLEMS IN SUMMARY.
Abstract
This initial paper describes the problem in general terms, notes the specifications required of the solutions; and describes a logical approach to solutions. The provisioning decision rules developed for the Navy by the Planning Research Corporation will be applied; modified and amplified as necessary. These rules bring mathematics and basic economics to bear upon the problems. Mathematics in combination with an electronic calculating machine now makes it practical to introduce many more influencing factors into the inventory control decision.
