REDISTRIBUTION DECISIONS: THE TRANSPORTATION PROBLEM,

Abstract

Transportation savings can be realized at Ships Parts Control Center by employing SMALC (Ship Most At Least Cost). This technique looks at all activities simultaneously and selects the shortest shipping routes between them as determined by mileage tables. The SPCC proximity table selects consignor and consignee activities in a pre-established order, and determines redistribution action based on that order rather than the shortest possible route.
