THE ALL-COG FLEET ISSUE LOAD LIST (FILL),

Abstract

Technicians of the Bureau of Ships and the U.S. Navy Ships Parts Control Center (SPCC) discussed the preparation of a load list for tender and repair ships in 1954. This initial load, which covered only ship repair parts, was released in July, 1954. Because the pilot project was a success, load lists were extended to cover other material categories and applied to other type support ships. This report is primarily concerned with the techniques and innovations introduced since 1958. Initially, the individual load lists produced for each material category were prepared by the several inventory control points. A manually computed load quantity was prepared. The range determination was based on EAM listings of reported demands. The depth determination was based on the supported population times the anticipated failure or usage rate.
