INVENTORY CONTROL MANUAL. THE UNIFORM AUTOMATED DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM (UADPS). PART I. REQUIREMENTS DETERMINATION FOR CONSUMABLES,

Abstract

With the ever increasing size and complexities of modern weapon systems, the task of supporting the fleet becomes impossible with yesterday's methods. The job that faces the Navy calls for the full utilization of modern computers and data processing equipment, high speed communication facilities, and the very latest management techniques. The Uniform Automated Data Processing System (UADPS) is designed to overcome the twin stumbling blocks: the shear volume of today's business and the budget squeeze. In summary, the UADPS program consists of four basic elements: Computer program; Supply management tool; Set of inventory decision rules; and a Group of people dedicated to the maintenance, dissemination, and utilization of the above elements.
