MEASURING LEADERSHIP POTENTIAL,

Abstract

This report describes some of the problem areas involved in the development of suitable criteria for measuring leadership ability of students in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at Montana State College. The leader must know something of the habits of thought and action of many people of varying backgrounds. He must be concerned with beliefs, emotions, and probable behavior. He needs to assess group opinions and deal with attitudes if his leadership is to be effective. Rating scales to be used as leadership evaluation devices are discussed. Formulae are given to be used in computing scores for performance rating scales and associate (buddy or peer) rating scales. (Author)
