COMMUNICATION METHODS USING CODES CARRYING ADDRESS AND CONTENT OR ADDRESS ONLY (HIRKOZLESI ELJARASOK CIMET ES TARTALMAT, VALAMINT CSAK CIMET HORDOZO KODOKKAL),
Abstract
In the case of communication among several subscribers through a common channel information concerning the destination (address) and content of the message must be transmitted. In the classical PCM the address is transmitted by the time position (serial number) of the codewords, and the content by the codewords themselves. However, it is possible that -- similarly to the method used in the computer technique -- both address and content are carried by the codewords. A further possibility is given by the reverse of the classical PCM by transmitting the content by the position of the codewords and the address by the codeword itself. The paper deals with these last two methods, i.e. with the use for communication of the codes carrying address and content or address only. A review of the fundamental principles is given and possibilities of eliminating transmission errors as well as means of band compression offered in the case of the studied methods are dealt with. In the appendix the block diagram of the speech channel is illustrated by the examples of codes carrying address and content. (Author)
