A LARGE FLASH PHOTOLYSIS APPARATUS FOR THE STUDY OF THE ABSORPTION OF GAS PHASE FREE RADICALS,

Abstract

This report presents a description of a flash photolysis apparatus. The apparatus is to be used for the production of free radicals from gaseous samples and the observation of the absorption spectra of these radicals in the near ultraviolet and visible regions of the spectra. The apparatus was tested by observation of the absorption spectra of NH2 radical produced in the flash photolysis of NH3. The desired spectra was obtained, indicating that all components perform satisfactorily. (Author)
