RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF MICROWAVE TUBES AND DEVICES.

Abstract

The study of beam generated plasmas has been continued with special emphasis on the beam stopping potential of such plasmas. The first case to be considered is the plasma diode. Good agreement with previous experimental data has been obtained. The noise properties of ion focused beams was investigated during the last quarter. Low frequency (to several Mc) and high frequency (to 1.5 GHZ) has been detected. Rf measurements have been made on a plasma diode that uses a sodium plasma. Standing waves of Bohm and Gross type between the emitter by applying an rf voltage across the diode and using a thin wire probe as the detector.
