MICROMINIATURIZATION OF THE AN/TCC-19 ELECTRONIC SWITCHBOARD.

Abstract

This report discusses the feasibility of reducing the size and weight of the AN/TTC-19 by a factor of ten through use of microminiaturization techniques. The proposal for accomplishing this objective requires consolidation of all memory and control functions of the control center into a single stored program central processor unit. A detailed discussion of approaches for microminiaturizing analog circuits and the switching matrix is presented and it is shown that the projected microminiaturization goals can be met using modern microelectronic components in the stored program processor unit. Finally, a recommended system specification is presented - for a switching machine which utilizes such a processor in conjunction with a 128-time slot, redundant, one highway TDM switching network.
