REALISTIC TARGETS FOR THE TRAINING AND TESTING OF COMBAT RIFLEMEN

Abstract

The development of realistic targets was included as an essential phase of Task TRAINFIRE: Experimental Development of Training Methods and Proficiency Tests for Improving the Effectiveness of Combat Rifleman. As a result of this target development program, two devices were designed and produced. One is a remotely controlled, stationary target device which is electrically raised and lowered and falls when struck by a bullet; the other is a hand-powered, moving target device which is mechanically raised and lowered but does not fall when hit.
