INVESTIGATION AND EVALUATION OF MOTOR INSULATION FOR MULTIPLE RESTART APPLICATION.

Abstract

The primary purpose of this program is to investigate the properties and behavior of elastomeric insulation materials during multiple restart conditions and the influence of these properties on materials performance. During the first quarter of work, testing was initiated to determine the thermal, chemical, and physical properties of five representative elastomeric insulation materials for correlation at a later date with motor performance. Design of the correlation motors was completed and fabrication started. Work was initiated on modifying an analytical model of ablation to handle the characteristics of elastomeric insulation in stop-start environment. (Author)
