SYNTHESIS OF MEMORY ELEMENTS IN SERIES CIRCUITS USING LOGIC CHARTS.
Abstract
The paper describes a method of synthesis for static switching of series systems. The method is based on the systematic use of memory elements as intermediate switching quantities. As described in this paper, the synthesis of memory elements leads systematically to circuits with no switching hazards that are simpler than those obtained by conventional methods. Using memory elements as secondary switching devices, all 1 entries are grouped in one field and all 0 entries in another, thus eliminating the risk of error. The solution reached by this method is unequivocal, so that the optimum design is chosen with the least amount of work on the basis of the sequence charts. At the same time, an original rule is set forth for synthesis of the intermediate quantities; since it is based on charts of lower degree than the sequence chart, makes it possible to use chart constructions to solve the problem for systems with many variables (five, six, or more).
