LAU-55/A MULTIPLE FLARE LAUNCHER.

Abstract

The basic design approach used for the LAU-55/A was to utilize existing Multiple Ejector Rack components, wherever possible, to reduce development costs, training requirements, and logistics. The same basic store arrangement used on the Multiple Ejector Racks was used for the Multiple Flare Launcher, i.e., two clusters of three flares carried in tandem. The cross sectional and longitudinal spacing have been tailored to match only the MLU-32/B99 Flare. This was a design concept permitting minimum launcher envelope and weight, since other multiple racks are being procured for carriage of the full Air Force store spectrum.
