DEVELOPMENT OF A 50 KVA MODEL SNAP-50/SPUR INDUCTOR GENERATOR.

Abstract

The configuration and design features of a potassium-cooled 50 KVA model of the SNAP-50/SPUR inductor generator are described, including the stator bore seal, bearing and shaft seal configurations, and the cooling path arrangement. The unique fabrication techniques required by the generator are discussed. Results of tests both in conventional fluids and liquid potassium are compared with calculated performance, and the problems encountered during test are described along with the design modifications required to resolve these problems.
