HIGH POWER RF WINDOW STUDY.

Abstract

The purpose of this program is to develop a 1.0 megawatt rf window having 10% bandwidth at 8.0 GHz. Additional test monitoring has been added to the ring resonator circuit. These include a device for audio detection of window cracking level and a calibrator to aid in accurate window power loss measurements. Resonant ring tests with dielectric samples have raised new stability problems. These problems are discussed. First, tests were performed on the thick disc Be0 window and failure occurred between 600-720 kw CW. Tests are in progress on the thin disc Be0 window. Initial performance is discussed. (Author)
