DEVELOPMENT OF OFFSET TELESCOPE, T182.

Abstract

The cleft turret and the sharply-sloped armor of the T92 76-mm gun tank severly limit the space available in the tank turret for the installation of fire control equipment. In order to provide the gunner with a secondary system for laying the tank gun for direct fire that could be installed in the assigned space, it was necessary to develop an offset telescope and mount. Ordnance accordingly opened a project for the development of the T182 offset telescope and the T214 offset telescope mount in Au.ust 1956 (for the development of the T214 mount, see TIR 9-8-1C17).
