VALIDATION AND REVISION OF THE U. S. MEDICAL RESEARCH LABORATORY PERSONAL HISTORY FORM,

Abstract

The purpose of this investigation was to: (1) investigate, by conventional item analysis techniques, the validity of responses to items on the Medical Research Laboratory Personal History Form (Revised 2-52) for subsequent performance aboard submarines; (2) revise the format and item content of te MRL Personal History Form in view of the findings in (1) and the results from other studies on biographical information; and (3) investigate some recently proposed methods for obtaining scores from personal history forms which, when applied to the newly revised PHF, might result in more valid predictions of subsequent shipboard performance.
