OXIDE CATHODE AND PRIMARY GRID EMISSION STUDIES.

Abstract

A summary is presented of what has been learned up to the present time concerning breakdown in 715B tubes. It has been show that the screen grid starts the delayed type arc. Now it is shown that the control grid initiates those normal type arcs which occur inside the anode cylinder. Several possible causes of arcs are discussed. Preliminary experiments on the thermionic emission from extruded carbon filaments are discussed. A satisfactory spring design for these filaments has now been attained. (Author)
