OXIDE CATHODE AND PRIMARY GRID EMISSION STUDIES.

Abstract

In observations on electrical breakdown in 715 type tubes it is necessary to delay the desired signal of grid current, etc. with a delay line for a sufficiently long period of time so that it can be seen and photographed on an oscilloscope screen. The type of wave shape distortion introduced by the delay line was considered undesirable. A new redesigned delay line was built, tested, and found not to have this type of distortion. Some oscillograms of the various electrode currents under steady state and arcing conditions using the new delay line are included. Work on identification by x-ray diffraction of the material evaporated from an oxide cathode has been continued. The experimental difficulties have been such that no new information has been gained.
