THE SUITABILITY OF THE IFF TRANSMISSION LINE IN VARIOUS RADAR PEDESTALS FOR USE WITH IFF MARK V,

Abstract

The following is a report on tests made to determine the suitability of the IFF channel of the double rotating joints in the models SA, SC-3, SK, SM, SR and CXCB radar antenna for use at IFF Mark V frequencies. Curves of the measured standing wave ratio and insertion loss as well as the calculated attenuation and reflection loss are included. The results show that the insertion loss of the SA, SC-3, SK and CXCB joints is well within the maximum permissible value of 2.5 db, while that of the SM and SR reaches 5.7 and 21.7 db respectively.
