MANAGEMENT CONSIDERATIONS OF THE QUANTITATIVE APPROACH TO ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT RELIABILITY (AGREE/PSMR-1 .

Abstract

The objective of the Department of Defense electronics reliability program is the specification in contracts of the required reliability in quantitative, measureable terms, with appropriate tests to prove compliance. The precepts basic to this objective are, first, that the inherent reliability must be designed into a system and supported by all other operations and a corollary, that sound engineering during design and development, from a full system engineering viewpoint, is the foundation of equipment reliability. Although this booklet deals primarily with the electronics reliability program, the principles set forth are at present being adopted and applied to those portions of missile, satellite, aircraft, and fire-control systems that are mechanical in nature.
