Effect of Various Driving Bands on the Aerodynamic Performance of Projectiles at High Velocities

Abstract

A comparison is presented of the drag and moment coefficients at high velocities of a series of similar projectiles with varying driving band shapes. Included is a projectile without any driving band. The data were obtained from firings in the Aerodynamics Range. A variation of K sub M with yaw is observed and its magnitude evaluated.
