CONFERENCE OF THE PROPERTIES OF SEMI-CONDUCTING MATERIALS. UNIVERSITY OF READING, ENGLAND, JULY 10-15 1950.

Abstract

The Conference on the Properties of Semi-Conducting Materials at the University of Reading attracted many scientists from the United States, Holland, France and Germany, in addition to those who attended from universities and research laboratories in England. In addition to the very considerable amount of work on the semi-conducting properties of germanium, a large amount of research was reported on the semi-conducting properties of grey tin, barium oxide and silicon; the effect of neutron irradiation on semi-conductors; the transistor action in lead sulphide; the trapping of electrons released in alkali halide crystals; and the preparation of black phosphorus at atmospheric pressure by a catalytic method.
