ON THE SOLUTION OF THE 'TELEPHONE PROBLEM',
Abstract
In this paper a method of solution is developed assuming that the distribution of incoming calls is dependent on time, which leads to an explicit solution in the case where the incoming distribution is constant, and to a method of numerical solution otherwise. The results here must be considered to be incomplete since the full details of the numerical solution remain to be worked out, and since only the case of one trunk line is considered (although this case seems to include most of the major difficulties).
