PRELIMINARY REPORT OF A NEW DISSOLVED OXYGEN TEST,

Abstract

A promising method for determining low concentrations of dissolved oxygen in deaerated boiler feedwater has been discovered. The method is based on the color developed when an alkaline solution of the leuco-base of indigo carmine reacts with oxygen. The method is simple and rapid. Dissolved oxygen concentrations up to 0.16 ppm have been studied. Concentrations below 0.02 ppm were measured with a precision of 0.002 ppm. (Author)
