The Lift of Particular Surface-piercing Hydrofoils of Small Aspect Ratio.

Abstract

Approximative relations are established that permit determination of the forces produced by cantilevered surface-piercing hydrofoils with small aspect ratios. Unfortunately, no prediction is possible as to the maximum angle of attack before stalling occurs. Moreover, the drag/lift ratios of such hydrofoils are not known.
