A Novel 'Geometrical' Approach to Reaction Rate Determinations in Detonation

Abstract

In an attempt to provide a unification of the various experimental facts concerning the 'end effect' in detonation, an empirical model of the detonation process was set up. In the investigations to be carried out under the present project, it is planned to investigate, along with various other problems, this model, both from the viewpoint of studying its fundamental basis and its application in military explosives problems. The object of this report is to describe this model in sufficient detail that it may be applied here or elsewhere in the various problems for which it is applicable, one of the most important of which is in shaped charge studies.
