On the Existence of Steady Gas Flow in Plane Isothermal Streamline Patterns,

Abstract

An investigation is made of the possibility of a steady plane flow of an ideal gas in the absence of body forces having a streamline pattern which can be mapped conformally onto a family of parallel lines. Irrotationality of the gas flow is not assumed. It is proved that the only possible flows of this type are those having streamlines which are concentric circles, parallel straight lines, or radial straight lines. (Author)
