A Summary of Static Deflection Data on Three Series of Plastic Diaphragms,

Abstract

Curves of deflection plotted against pressure are presented for three series of diaphragms classified by diameter; the nominal diameters are 1 3/16 inch, 5 inches, and 20 inches. Stress values based on the simple theory of TMB Report 490 are plotted. Generalized curves of nominal plastic deflection are derived from the deflection-pressure data. It is concluded that the simple theory of TMB Report 490 is verified, approximately, within certain limits.
