3-IN. Mount Mark 37 and Prototypes. Special Tests on the 3-in./70 Caliber Pilot Mount Mark 28 Mod. 0.
Abstract
The 3-in./70 Caliber Mount Mark 28 Mod. 0 is a pilot model of the Mark 37 prototype. The objects of the special tests are as follows: (1) to determine the causes for dropping rounds from the breech when ramming at high angles of elevation and ramming speeds at several angles of elevation, (2) to determine the gas concentration in the enclosed mount following a 20 round burst without mount ventilation, and (3) to test the Mark 37 mount recoil counter-recoil system on the Mark 28 mount.
