MALLARD System Study. Cost and Effectiveness Models and Subsystems. Volume II.

Abstract

The Availability model developed for use on Project MALLARD has been designed to obtain values for the availability of communications channels; these values can be used to evaluate the relative effects of design choices within typical nodes and links, or can be used as inputs to either analytic or simulation network performance models. A summary of the availability model characteristics and assumptions is given. The model is implemented through the Node Operation Simulator (NOS), an events oriented, list processing digital computer program that makes use of Monte Carlo techniques.
