Advanced Storable Z((ClF5/MMH))ZACS Propulsion.

Abstract

Phase I results include a detailed description of the facility buildup for sea-level testing with ClF5/MMH. The description encompasses the support system, run system, instrumentation, and scrubbers used for disposal of engine exhaust products and liquid chlorine pentafluoride. Four injection techniques were evaluated: splash plate, triplet, doublet, and Hiperthin. These injectors were tested with workhorse copper thrust chambers to determine injector combustion efficiency and the optimum characteristic length for a flight-weight chamber.
