Advanced Maneuvering Propulsion Technology Program Interim Materials and Processes Report.

Abstract

Materials and processes developed and used to fabricate segments of a LF2/LH2 aerospike thrust chamber assembly, nozzle extension, injectors and bearings and seals for LF2 turbopumps are presented. A brief design description of each item is provided. The materials used included OFHC copper, Nickel 200, electrodeposited nickel, CRES 347 and 304L, and Inconel 718. The processes include electrodeposition (electroforming), stretch forming, explosive forming, electro-discharge machining, brazing, and welding. (Author)
