Lessons Learned, Headquarters, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment

Abstract

The 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment participated in Operations DONG TIEN 2 AND TOAN THANG 43 in the Kingdom of Cambodia in May and June and in July initiated operations in BINH DUONG, BIEN HOA, and LONG KHANH Provinces. Operation DUNG TIEN 2 was conducted under TF Shoemaker. The TF crossed the border into Cambodia in the fishhook on 1 May, accomplished a link-up with the 3rd ARVN Abn Bde on 2 May, and then thrust on to SNUOL (XU5534). Operations continued during May and June to deny the enemy his Cambodian sanctuaries, and by 28 June all elements of the Regiment had withdrawn to RVN.
