Lessons Learned, Headquarters, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment

Abstract

During the reporting period the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment continued operations in BINH DUONG, BIEN HOA, and LONG KHANH Provinces. Operations in the BIEN HOA - LONG KHANH AO were directed against the VC U-1 Province forces, the 274th VC Regiment, and the TRANG BOM District force. Operations in this AO were characterized by search and clear, recon in force, Rome Plow security, population and resource control with the National Police, the use of automatic ambushes to interdict enemy supply routes, and sensor and radar employment to expose infiltration along the Dong Nai River. The introduction of Ranger Teams and Infantry units from the 25th Infantry Divisions aided operations in the AO. Operations in the BINH HOA - BINH DUONG AO were directed against the VC Sub-Region 5 (SR-5) and the Dong Nai Regiment. Local force enemy units near BINH MY and BINH CO villages were also targeted.
