Senior Officer Debriefing Report: Aviation Officer, USARV and CG, 1st Aviation Brigade

Abstract

The past year has been one of significant change in the nature and intensity of the war in Vietnam. It has also been a time of great challenge to Army aviation with the high point coming during Operation LAMSON 719 in February and March 1971. That campaign provided further proof of the efficacy of the airmobility concept and the resiliency of the helicopter and its crew in mid to high intensity combat. It also emphasized the critical importance of responsive aviation maintenance and supply and the requirement for close and continuous coordination between planner, operator, and logistician.
