Bearing Readout Systems for Goniometric Direction Finders.

Abstract

Improvement of the reliability and accuracy of high-frequency direction finder bearings is sought by a re-examination of the data link between the video output of the df receiver and the plotting center. The human operator is considered to be a necessary link in the readout process but an attempt has been made to lighten his burden by utilizing machine processing techniques wherever applicable, thus optimizing the operator's performance of those tasks for which he is uniquely suited. The readout systems developed are intended to minimize the sources of error in existing equipment and to decrease processing time. (Author)
