THE EFFECT OF TOPOGRAPHY AND ITS ISOSTATIC COMPENSATION ON FREE AIR GRAVITY ANOMALIES.

Abstract

The effect of topography and its isostatic compensation for all 5 degree x 5 degree surface elements was calculated, using the T = 30 km, Airy-Heiskanen local isostatic system, and the available 5 degree x 5 degree mean free air anomalies based on measurements. Measured 5 degree x 5 degree mean free air anomalies on the Altantic Ocean, on the North American Continent, and at its shores were the test areas used for the adjustments.
