STUDY TO REDUCE AND COMPILE USAF NAP RADIATION EFFECTS DATA.

Abstract

Irradiation tests were performed on 2300 electronic piece parts to determine the effects of reactor-produced radiation on their operational characteristics. The irradiations were performed in a lithium hydride modified reactor environment to integrated motion fluxes greater than 10 to the 13th power n/sq cm (E>0.1 Mev) and gamma doses in excess of 2 x 10 to the 7th power Rad (C). The vast amount of data generated in this test was reduced to approximately six pertinent data points and recorded on computer library file cards along with information such as piece part application, manufacturer, manufacturing process, etc., concerning each electronic piece part.
