PARAMAGNETIC RELAXATION IN CRYSTALS.

Abstract

Progress made in an effort on the study of paramagnetic relaxation of fixed centers in crystals is outlined. The principal results were: (1) Development of an accurate method for measuring paramagnetic relaxation; (2) The demonstration of this technique in a variety of cases of interest to solid-state physics and related technology; (3) A significant contribution to the theory of paramagnetic relaxation and to the understanding of the coupling to the lattice of impurity ions and of other defect centers; (4) Improvement in the basic understanding of each of a variety of center and host combinations; and (5) Development of several novel microwave components. The essence of the research information is contained in the thirteen scientific reports whose abstracts appear as appendices to the report. (See also AD-284 393). (Author)
