HANDBOOK ON THE HIGH-ALTITUDE VERTICALHORIZONTAL SOUNDING OF THE ATMOSPHERE IN THE IL-28 AIRCRAFT.

Abstract

The Handbook on the High-altitude Vertical and Horizontal Sounding of the Atmosphere in the IL-28 Aircraft serves the purpose of setting up a uniform order and of establishing uniform methods for all visual and instrumental observations and the operations connected with them, which are to be carried out by workers at the high-altitude aircraft sounding stations of the Hydrometeorological Service and by the workers at the LERM's of Civil Air Fleet airports. All changes and improvements in flight conditions, in methods of observation, in the operation of the recording tape and in the writing of the yearbook are generalize and systematize in the handbook. The book gives a detailed description of the K4-51 recorder, of its checking in the LERM laboratory and of its servicing instructions. A new method for determining the true ambientair temperature is given. The method for processing the acceleration curve is explained in more detail than previously. A description of new devices for operating the recording tape, and a description of the high-altitude and oxygen equipment in the flight aerologist's cabin are given. The handbook is therefore distinguished by great material completeness. It comprises four sections. (Author)
