DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERING OF CD V-797 CALIBRATOR.

Abstract

A research and development program was conducted to design and produce the OCD Item No. CD V-797 Calibrator, which was to be used for field radiation calibration and range checking of the OCD Item No. CD V-711 Remote Sensor Radiation Meter. Each calibrator comprised a small Cesium-137 source with an electrometer and high voltage test circuit. Two prototype models of the calibrator were constructed, and each was used to standardize three CD V-711 remote sensors. Comparisons were made with R-meter calibrations, and estimates were derived for over-all accuracy and precision. Measurements were also made to assure conformance to AEC and ICC specific device requirements. The report contains laboratory test data, assembly and schematic drawings, production cost estimates, and parts lists. (Author)
