STEP I COMPLETION REPORT FOR HIGH PRECISION CRYSTAL UNITS; 5,000 KC, RUGGEDIZED.

Abstract

The design and manufacture of Crystal Type CR-(XM-7)/U (CR-71/U with minor exceptions) is described, including a process manual, and a discussion of measuring equipment and techniques. Characteristic aging data is given and discussed, with emphasis upon the possibility of predicting aging in six to eight days, together with an evaluation of the MIL-C-3098/49 specifications for aging. Retrace characteristics (behavior of frequency with reference to time after an interruption of oscillation and removal from the oven control) are described. Frequency stability vs. shock and vibration, and vs. orientation of the unit with respect to the force of gravity are discussed, with supporting data. (Author)
