OXIDATION OF CESIUM AT LOW TEMPERATURES AND PRESSURES,

Abstract

Research indicated that the oxidation of cesium is very rapid for oxygen pressures approaching 0.001 torr at 0 C but is very small at -78 C. At intermediate temperatures, the oxidation curves exhibit the break away phenomenon observed for other alkali metals in which an accelerating rate of oxidation is observed following an initial slow rate.
