ANALYSIS OF WOOD-PRESERVATIVES IN EXPOSED TEST PANELS.

Abstract

Wooden panels pressure impregnated with creosote or 70/30 creosote-coal tar solution were exposed for two, four, or six years in a submerged marine environment in a study conducted by the Oregon State University Forest Research Laboratory. These panels were extracted with solvent to determine the amounts of preservative remaining, and the extracts were analyzed to determine any chemical changes that had occurred to the preservatives. The analytical data obtained are presented in a series of tables. (Author)
