THE STATIC PERFORMANCE OF AN ASPECT RATIO 2/3 GROUND EFFECT MACHINE,

Abstract

The results of an experimental investigation of the static performance of an aspect ratio 2/3 peripheral jet ground effect machine model are presented and compared with available theory. The investigation included measurements of lift, pitching moment, base pressure, and plenum chamber pressure for the model with various nozzle thicknesses and base recess depths and for a variety of model heights and pitch angles. Results reported include the lifting performance and the static pitch stability of the model. Observations of the flow beneath the model were also made. (Author)
