SOLID-STATE RF GENERATOR.

Abstract

Since the availability of the RCA TA 2307 transistor, a more efficient broadband S-band source may be designed by amplifying at 500 Mc. The decrease of the number of multiplier stages by using this approach will ease the bandwidth requirements. An LC oscillator operating at 500 Mc with a stability of greater than 1 part in 10,000 is readily achievable. By increasing the overall DC to RF efficiency of the source, the critical thermal problems normally encountered in a high power transistor amplifier are decreased. (Author)
