CORROSION AND PROTECTION OF METAL STRUCTURAL MATERIALS,

Abstract

The expediency of utilizing the concept of a controlling factor for the characteristics of a protective-action mechanism and a systematization of various types of anticorrosion protection is considered in the first article of the collection. The remaining papers of the collection are devoted to specific problems encountered in experimental study of the corrosion processes and the protection of metallic systems. Such important divisions as the study of gas corrosion during heat-treatment of alloys, the corrosion and protection of metals during etching in acids, the acid resistance of metals at elevated temperatures, the corrosion of new metallic structural materials -- titanium, its alloys and niobium alloys containing tantalum -- and new studies to determine the intergranular corrosion of stainless steels are reflected in this collection. Recent investigations linked with study of the corrosion fatigue of steel and with the corrosion and protection in certain operations of the chemical industry are also incorporated in the collection.
