PROGRAM PLAN. REVISION OF BALLISTIC RE-ENTRY VEHICLE STRUCTURAL LOADS PROGRAM.

Abstract

An investigation was conducted to determine the feasibility of revising the existing ballistic re-entry vehicle structural loads program in order to incorporate more recent advances in vehicle design. Two items of major interest were the incorporation of control surfaces and the utilization of more recent pressure distribution theories. Other considerations, such as providing for additional payload locations and cantilevered supports, were also included. The results of this investigation are presented as a program plan for a 6 month effort to incorporate the previously mentioned revision. (Author)
